Job Summary:

The machine operator is responsible for completing all finishing services for digital print projects in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. The machine operator is responsible for effectively, efficiently and safely operating their assigned machine. Prepares the workload schedule to meet customer timeframe requirements as instructed by the supervisor.  Performs daily / weekly / monthly maintenance on the assigned machine to ensure optimum output. Works closely with other staff members to exceed customer satisfaction and service expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

General and Administrative

  • Coordinate with the Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs, and when necessary reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
  • comply with all OHSA safety requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with the Print Supervisor and the Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that both sales and customer objectives are met.
  • Follow systems and procedures outlined in the company Procedure Manual.

Machine Operations

  • Perform machine operating and packing functions as noted on work order/job tickets.
  • Process handwork assembly according to specifications.
  • Clean and disinfect workstation.
  • Input the appropriate configuration based on job specifications and requirements.
  • Visually inspect the job for imperfections and adjust accordingly.
  • Package jobs, complete work orders, tickets, and delivery receipts as necessary and placed in their assigned areas.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, conduct minor repairs, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Operate assigned equipment/machine in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Control and adjust machine settings when required.
  • Notify the Print Supervisor of any quantity or quality issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Equipment and Supplies:

  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies; order and stock as instructed by the Print Supervisor.
  • Inform Supervisor of machine/equipment problems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Previous print and/or machine knowledge/experience is ana asset.
  • Previous experience in operating machinery is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good written, verbal and mathematical skills.
  • Good attention to detail and hand eye coordination.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of the team.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time-up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and twisting is required.
  • Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
  • Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
  • Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Additional hours may be required due to operational requirements.

Shift Details:

  • Days/Afternoons

  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday 08:00AM – 04:00 PM

  • Salary: 19 – 23/hr
